BEST INTERNATIONAL MUSIC VIDEO – AUDIENCE CHOICE, BEST DIRECTION IN AN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC VIDEO - JURY AWARD, INTERNATIONAL REVELATION AWARD – JURY CHOICE AND MOST INNOVATIVE MUSIC VIDEO – JURY CHOICE


Open to directors, production companies, record labels, music artists and other music video industry professionals involved in the production of a music video for an international song, released between August 1st, 2018 and September 13th, 2019, in accordance to the following regulations.

  1. HOW TO APPLY

  • The award is eligible to professionals and individuals that have produced at least one music video that has been shown on TV, available online, or in another public forum;
  • Each video must be an official and original work for an international (non-Brazilian) artist/band;
  • The music video must have been produced in compliance with the rights holders (artist, label, management);
  • Brazilian professionals may enroll in this category, considering that the song in not from a Brazilian artist/ band;
  • Once the music video is enrolled as an International Music Video, it’s automatically competing for “Best International Music Video - audience choice, Best Direction in an International Music Video” – jury award and the jury awards: “Most Innovative Music Video” (considered it encompasses ground-breaking format, length, method of distribution, or techniques such as interactivity, 360, and VR to name a few) and “Revelation Music Video” (considered the director is a new talent);
  • The “Most Innovative Music Video” award will be chosen among music videos from International and Brazilian bands/artists, and only one music video will be awarded, regardless the nationality;
  • Each entrant may compete with as many music videos as they want considered there is one form for each music video;
  • The entry must be available for viewing on YouTube. If the video’s native format is non-traditional, please provide a video preview and description of the work (VR, app, etc.);
  • All the music videos submitted must have been released between August 1st, 2018 and September 13th, 2019.

  1. REGISTRATION AND TERMS

  • Each entry must be submitted by their directors / producers and/or legal representatives through the festival’s website, including a valid online link, showing the online publishing date;
  • Each music video needs to be enrolled through one registration form. Therefore, if the same professional/individual wants to enroll two music videos, he or she must submit two registration forms, one for each;
  • The registration form(s) must be fully completed and submitted by 11h59PM of September 13th, 2019;
  • The registration deadline may be extended, if m-v-f- organizers decide so, in which case the new deadline will be informed in the website and through press;
  • The music video will only be eligible to the awards once the complete registration form is submitted;
  • The entrant will receive a confirmation e-mail message for each music video;
  • Once enrolled, your music video will automatically be eligible for the audience choice for Best International Music Video, as well as "Best Direction in an International Music Video, “Most Innovative International Music Video” and “International Revelation Music Video” awards, if applicable and according to the jury’s choice.

  1. SELECTION, AUDIENCE CHOICE AND JURY AWARDS

  • A team formed by professionals, consultants and curators of the Music Video Festival will choose the finalists that will be in the final competition in each category, to be announced at the festival’s website;
  • There will be 15 finalists for "Best Brazilian Music Video - audience choice", 15 finalists for "Best International Music Video - audience choice", and 3 to 5 finalists for all other categories.
  • The finalists will be announced in the festival’s website, social media and press, according to the given categories;
  • The audience will be able to vote for “Best International Music Video” in m-v-f-'s website, during a given timeframe, to be informed by the festival’s organizers in the website, social media and through press;
  • From the International finalists the Jury will choose the Best Direction in an International Music Video and Revelation Music Video awards;
  • The jury will also choose, among the Brazilian and International finalists, a music video to receive the “Most Innovative Music Video” award;
  • The entrants are aware that their names may be publicized in the festival’s online and printed communication pieces. Once enrolling at the m-v-f- awards, the entrants authorize the festival to use their names, the song name and the artist name for publicity purposes;
  • The winners of all categories will be announced to the audience on an open ceremony to be held at a place and time to be announced.

  1. THE AWARDS

  • There is no money grant for the awards;
  • The winning director(s) will be awarded with one trophy for each winning video;
  • The awards will be announced at the Award Ceremony;
  • The winning music videos representatives will be informed according to the contact information provided in the registration form prior to the Award Ceremony;
  • If the winner of the Jury Awards and the Audience Award should be the same music video, the representative will receive two trophies. The Jury and Festival decisions shall be final and binding on all entrants;
  • The Music Video Festival encourages finalists to attend the Award Ceremony, however cannot be responsible for any travel or housing costs;
  • If the representatives of the music video cannot be present at the Ceremony, they may appoint another person to receive the award in his place. Winners who cannot attend the ceremony will receive their trophies by post.

  1. SELECTION

  • The videos will be evaluated according to the following criteria: technical expertise of directing; creativity and innovation; execution of the idea and appropriateness to the music;
  • A team comprised of professionals, consultants and curators of Music Video Festival will choose the finalists;
  • The Jury, who will choose the Best Direction in an International Music Video, Revelation International Music Video and Best Innovative Music Video will be announced at m-v-f-’s website and press.

  1. SUBMISSION OF SELECTED VIDEOS AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
  • If your music video is selected as one of the finalists, you will be contacted by m-v-f-’s production person who will require that you send a high resolution QuickTime file (HD, 1920 x 1080 60i - DVCPRO HD - 29,97fps or 23.98fps, 25fps, 29.97fps, ProRes 422/ audio: 48K 16 bit), in FTP/WeTransfer link for download, by a given date;
  • If the music video is a non-traditional format such as VR, interactive, etc., the festival will be in touch to understand the best way to receive the archive so that it can be exhibited properly;
  • IF THE MUSIC VIDEO IS NOT SENT IN THE REQUIRED FORMAT UNTIL THE DATE INFORMED BY M-V-F-‘S PRODUCTION, THE MUSIC VIDEO WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE COMPETITION;
  • In addition to the music video file, the following material will also be required:
    • (3) still images from video (high-res, 1920x1080 or larger);
    • (1) headshot/photo of director(s) (high-res for print);
    • Biography of director(s).
    • (1) photo of artist or band (high-res for print);
    • Biography of artist or band

IMPORTANT: By entering the awards entrants agree that their name, image and likeness may be used by the Music Video Festival for publicity purposes in connection with the m-v-f- awards without remuneration.

Music Video Festival also has an ongoing partnership with São Paulo based film comission Institution Spcine for the exhibition of contents curated by m-v-f- in cinema rooms programmed by the Institution in São Paulo, as well as in their streaming platform, Spcine Play, at no charge. The finalists music videos representatives will be consulted regarding the interest of integrating these programs from September 13th on.
